Style over substance

Lyrically I find this song very weak. Sometimes I’ll listening to a hip hop song and not be able to intellectually grasp onto its vocabulary. I just can’t get my head around what the song is really about and it just seems like a bunch of words being thrown at me. So my brain will translate those individual words, but they’re not particularly powerful ones so my brain will just build a vague picture. It‘s a really fuzzy picture, I prefer clarity. JayZs favorite word. So in terms of meaning all I can get from this song is it’s about money, hoes and wealth. But musically this song is absolutely insane. It’s one of the greatest sounds in hip hop. I feel like my heart sounds like this inside.
